Cam Norrie in Sparse Auckland Qualifying Draw

Cameron Norrie will probably need to beat #97 Benjamin Becker to qualify for the ATP 250 event next week.

World Number 717 Cameron Norrie is bizarrely seeded in qualifying for the men’s week of the ATP 250 ASB Classic in Auckland in a draw that features just eleven entrants, with five alternates to be placed and four players qualifying for the main draw.

Norrie received a wildcard into the qualifying tournament but would not have been expecting to be seeded, given the top seed in qualifying, Robin Haase, is 66th in the world. It is, however, a great opportunity for Norrie, who will face 2013th-ranked Korean Chung Hyo Woo in the first round tomorrow in a match he should win and collect 6 ranking points for.

Norrie is currently studying in America at Texas Christian University, and is the highest rated Brit currently studying across the pond, and if he qualified it would be the first ATP 250 main draw of his career.
