Konta Crushes Zheng to March On in Australia

Konta won almost half of her receiving points against the Chinese World Number 85.

Johanna Konta produced a clinical display to defeat China’s Saisai Zheng in the second round of the Australian Open 6-2 6-3 to set up a third round match with Czech Denisa Allertova in the third round.

Konta hit 26 winners en route to a comfortable straight sets victory, saving 75% of the break points she offered and taking 4 out of 8 she was offered by Zheng.

The Brit was also impressive on her first serve, winning 77% of points when her first serve went in, which was just over half the time.

Konta will be pleased at the time spent on court so far with straight sets wins over both Zheng and Venus Williams in the first round, but she will be wary of Allertova’s game, as the Czech defeated her in three sets at the French Open last year, winning a marathon first set tiebreak 19-17. Konta at the time was ranked 144th in the world; she has now leapfrogged the Czech and will be favourite for the match.
