Holly Fischer Defeated in U14 Quarter-Finals in Sweden

2003-born Holly Fischer made a serious dent on the main draw at the Tennis Europe U14 Grade 1 event in Sweden this week, taking out two seeds to reach the quarter-finals before finally being defeated yesterday.

As of our last update, Fischer was the only Brit left involved in the competition, and was due to face sixth seed Darja Semenistaja of Latvia for a place in the quarters.

The Brit duly obliged, coming through with ease 6-0 6-4 before facing Slovakian second seed Romana Sicovska. The Slovakian is currently ranked 6th in Europe at U14 level, and unsurprisingly was too strong for the Brit, who went down 6-3 6-3 after a battling performance.

Fischer is currently ranked 82nd in her age group, but should jump a few places after this week’s strong showing in Sweden.

25-year-old University of St Andrews graduate with a rather insane passion for British Tennis. Boston United fan (don't ask). Favourite tennis player: the Brummie bunch - Dan Evans and Lloyd Glasspool.
