Oklahoma State Brit Julian Cash has picked up the Player of the Week award from the Big 12 Conference after an impressive week of tennis which saw him defeat the #7-ranked college player in the country.

Cash defeated California’s Andre Goransson in straight sets 6-4 6-3, helping Oklahoma State to a 4-3 victory over California, and the award was announced yesterday. It’s the second time Cash has picked up the award this year so far, having also won it January.

The Brit, who is having an excellent season and currently sits at #49 in the ITA Rankings, also won the historic Pacific Coast Men’s Doubles Championship last weekend. The event was in its 127th year, with Cash and partner Arjun Kadhe winning seven matches in three days in a field of college players, juniors, coaches, ex-players and teaching professionals. The pair defeated Stanford duo of Thomas Fawcett and Maciek Romanwicz 7-6 6-4 in the final to lift the trophy.

Cash, a sophomore, started his college career at Mississippi State, where he earned All-American honours in doubles, finishing the season ranked #14 in doubles having reached as high as #6 throughout the season. He transferred to Oklahoma State for the start of the 2015/16 season.
